The columns and beams were sized and connections designed. Weight of silos and sand are 70,000 lbs. but additional capacity was provided for future expansion.
H&S Roasters, LLC of Laramie called on JAG Engineering to assess the loading capacity of an existing floor. Assessment of existing structures requires a different method than used in new construction. Condition and type of materials used cannot be known for certain as with new construction. Engineering judgment based on years of experience are required to assess the structure with limited information and still provide a wide margin of safety.

A Rock Springs, Wyoming company modified the dump beds of their CAT 740 trucks. The walls were raised to carry a larger volume of a lightweight material. The mine safety inspector had some questions. JAG Engineering studied the OEM literature, spoke the OEM representatives, and developed an assessment method. JAG Engineering determined the modification did not create any undue risk.
